Funny how there are such weird gaps in the things I think I know. I was reading "The Bottle Imp" last night for about the millionth time when I stubbed my toe on "Prester John". Having internet access I looked him up. Supposedly a linear descendant of the Magi (all three?) Prester John is a legendary Christian ruler from the far East. Further study is called for.
