I am disappointed to report that the name of this bird is Louie. However, an interesting trip to Louisville all the same. Local color: when the luggage conveyer at the airport starts up it plays the fanfare for the call to the post. This town has two big themes: horses and bourbon. It also has some excellent architecture- a lot of very nice Victorian houses, and, in the downtown, many cast iron buildings that they've restored. The AHIA meeting was first-rate,but the highlight for me was wandering around and coming upon the University of Louisville. A had preceded me by a few days for her meeting, and reported that she had been unable to find any art galleries, but I found it: the Speed Museum. Terrific collection, including a Cindy Sherman soup terrine. It was like seeing an old friend.
