I first saw Bob Dylan at the Niagara Falls Convention Center in the fall of 1975 on the first half of the Rolling Thunder tour. It was great. The following spring the "Hard Rain" television special and live album were released and I was shocked- ol' Bob played new arrangements of everything, and I hated all of it.
Since then a big part of the Bob Dylan live experience has become hearing him re-work his material, frequently to the point where the songs are nearly unrecognizable, and I'm fine with that. I've also come around on the Hard Rain album- which, incidentally, Princess Diana owned. It isn't a gp-to for me, but it is an interesting document. That said, I have no itch to own a 39 disk, 371 song box set of this material.
